Portal From Purgatory

When the world is shielded from the destructive power of the sun, humanity is thrown into permenant darkness, doomed to suffer the consequences. After a thousand years one genius inventor and his talking octopus attempt to build a device that will change everything. Can this strange duo survive in the lawless city of Purgatory long enough to succeed? Or will a visit from a stranger force them to question their very perception of reality?
