It's when a person experienced a certain event that feels like it happened before but never know when and how. Some say it's a false memory or a dream that felt all to real. 

However, it's not for his case. It's not just a memory that happened somewhere in the past before (and will happen again) nor is it just a dream that felt all to real. It's reality, it's his reality. And he'll do everything in his power to prevent things from repeating itself again like some sort of tape record.
