*"Why did I not die? More miserable than man ever was before, why did I not sink into forgetfulness and rest? Death snatches away many blooming children, the only hopes of their doting parents: how many brides and youthful lovers have been one day in the bloom of health and hope, and the next a prey for worms and the decay of the tomb! Of what materials was I made, that I could thus resist so many shocks, which, like the turning of the wheel, continually renewed the torture?*

*But I was doomed to live;"*

***Mary Shelley,-Frankenstein

Harlow Potter is totally worn out, both physically and mentally, from the never-ending demands of the life she's gotta live. She longs for a big change, a world where people are more accepting and empathetic. The afterlife, by not accepting her, has left her feeling more and more frustrated and pissed off, like she's been unfairly denied the comfort and peace she desperately craves.

The lack of understanding and the inability to get why this happened just make her despair and disappointment even worse.

After the big battle at Hogwarts and years later, finding out about all the betrayals only adds to this feeling of emptiness that's always haunted her.

"Help me my daughter. Help your father survive." My father's distorted form in the air spoke to me. "NO!" Thirteen year old me shrieked at the cloud shaped form of my biological father. "Tom and Matt will be here soon." I threatened him. My voice was firm but I was so scared inside and it felt like he could see the war raging inside me. Do I give in to him? He is my father after all. It isn't his fault he lost to a baby and left us with Rodolphus. My blood boiled at the thought of him. His face twisted into a cruel smirk which confirmed my decision. I will not help him come back to life. Panic planted a seed in my chest. "Your dear older brothers are in a deep slumber my precious daughter. I could have asked them for this task but you have always been my favourite, even as a baby." My stomach curled at listening his voice. Even though I knew he couldn't hurt me right now it still didn't calm the storms of fear brewing in my chest. "Never." My voice was low but firm. I was proud of myself for controlling the tremble in my voice. "Eh? Never you say? You will regret that little Alexia. I hear you made friends with a girl. I shall see if her will power is as strong as yours." With that his figure whooshed away and I was left alone with my thoughts. The seed blossomed into a full blown tree and squeezed my lungs until there was no air left to breathe. They thought they could have a normal life. The past belongs in the past. Right? If not a normal childhood there's still a chance for a normal youth. But they have demons in their past and their future. No matter how much they repress their demons, they would always haunt them. After all the heirs to The Dark Lord don't get to have a normal life. No rest for the wicked. ********************** I promise you this story is better than how it seems. Its filled with humor and heartbreak and you will have a grand time reading it.
Choices of the Heart by Naadi11

Immediately after defeating Voldemort, Harry begins to have strange dreams, dreams that pull him once more into the realm of the newly dead. At first, the dreams are only a curious mystery, and Harry sets about putting his life back in order after the war. But when Harry dreams of Narcissa Malfoy, his life suddenly goes in a much different direction than the one he'd always imagined. This story ties up the loose ends about the Elder Wand and the Deathly Hallows. Choices of the Heart was written for the following prompt: "You are the true master of death, because the true master does not seek to run away from Death. He accepts that he must die, and understands that there are far, far worse things in the living world than dying." Note: The story contains conversations with dead people in dreams, most of these are older original characters, but there is one OC child. No actual deaths are portrayed and no canon characters die except for those who have already died in canon. I understand that death may not the easiest thing to read about for some, but I want to assure readers that I have tried to handle the concept of death in this story in the most uplifting way possible. This is not a story about loss and angst, but about finding hope and love, making choices, and trusting in the beauty and synchronicity of the universe, even if one crosses the boundaries between life and death. It also has, like almost everything I do, a generous share of silliness. There are also four hidden jokes/plays on words in the fic. ;-)
