Mya Collins is not ready to leave her family and rural home for a college that's miles away.

Up until this point, at nineteen-years-old, she has lived a sheltered life. It has become second nature for Mya to latch onto those she holds close, but now she must fly from the nest and into new territory.

Her freshman college experience takes an unexpected turn when she takes a course with a professor that seems to have it out for her. Strict and unforgiving, she finds it all the more difficult to adjust until her fear and anger for the man turns into something confusing.
