Ashton doesn't want much, one to leave behind his past as Alphonse. Two not to turn into a mindless beast controlled by instinct. And three, to live out his days free of the demands of greedy, selfish humans. He's a bird, he knows he's a bird. The problem is he's been pretending to be human so long... he doesn't really want to live as a beast... or know how to.

Unfortunately, many people won't just leave well enough alone. Particularly a descendent of an Avarice dragon who wants more than just answers behind Alphonse's death.
