The Truth of This Magnitude" by Elizabeth Moroz is a profound and complex exploration of the human condition and the societal challenges we face. The poem is divided into several stanzas, each addressing different facets of human behavior, societal norms, and the consequences of our actions.
The poem opens with a depiction of defiance and reliance, suggesting a tension between rebellion and conformity. This sets the tone for a series of contrasts that permeate the rest of the poem, such as heroism juxtaposed with mundane existence, and ethical integrity contrasted with societal corruption.
Throughout the poem, Moroz highlights various injustices and hypocrisies present in society, from the disregard for the underprivileged to the facade of the elite. There is a sense of disillusionment and outrage at the systemic failures that perpetuate inequality and suffering.
The poem also touches on themes of resistance and perseverance, suggesting that even in the face of overwhelming adversity, there is value in standing up for what is right. However, there is also a recognition of the impermanence of individual efforts and the limitations of human agency in the face of global crises.
The closing stanzas of the poem evoke a sense of impending doom and existential despair, as the speaker reflects on the magnitude of devastation facing humanity. Despite this, there is a glimmer of hope in the call for a "resurrection of virtue and human decency," suggesting that redemption is still possible if we collectively strive for change.
Overall, "The Truth of This Magnitude" is a thought-provoking and powerful work that challenges readers to confront uncomfortable truths about the world we live in while also inspiring them to imagine a better future. Moroz's skillful use of language and imagery creates a visceral and immersive reading experience that lingers in the mind long after the poem is finished.

MELANCHOLY | Melancholy drips from my fingertips. SOON TO BE A PUBLISHED PAPERBACK. COMING 2025! This melancholy drips from my fingertips so slowly, you begin to forget I even exist. All of me, the hard parts of flesh you could never seem to love, drips down the drain. I am waiting for the day for your fingers to unscrew the pipes, dig through debris and mess, scrape your heart against the rust, just to find me, so we can go through it all over again. Here, in the pages I find myself, in the ink that writes against my flesh, I will whisper the sadness, the heartache, and the decaying for all of the unspoken. Perhaps under this layer of melancholy, the girl I once knew still exists.    First poetry collection in the series. Original poems based off real life experiences. #12 in poetry.
