Whispers of Fate

Hyun's heart tensed at the unexpected vulnerability in his voice. "Who are you?" she asked, softer this time.

His gaze flickered, but he didn't answer. Instead, he took a step back, retreating into the shadows.

"Why do you know my name?" she pressed, her voice sharp again.

For a moment, he hesitated. Then, with a faint smirk, he replied, "Because your name feels like something I've heard before. Like a whisper in a dream."

Hyun froze, her breath catching. His words resonated somewhere deep inside her, stirring an unease she couldn't explain.

"This ends now," she said firmly. "Whatever you are, whatever you're doing, it stops here."

His smirk faded, replaced by a look of warning. "You can't stop what's already begun, Hyun."

"Watch me," she retorted, reaching for the weapon at her side.

He stepped closer, the air between them charged with tension. "Be careful," he said softly. "There are things in this world you're not ready to see."

And then, he vanished, leaving only the faint scent of ash and the echo of his voice in the empty room.

Hyun stood frozen, her mind spinning with unanswered questions. Who was he? And why did she feel like she already knew him?

As she turned to leave, gripping the pendant under her jacket tightly, she couldn't shake the feeling that this was only the beginning.
