(Ngl this probably won't last)
After the great dark flour war, the Cassava kingdom vanished, cookies from outside didn't know where they went or how they crumbled, not knowing the kingdom had isolated itself and turned their kingdom into a republic, isolated deeply in the tropical forest. There time was frozen still, thus traditions where still practiced, their leaders didn't want change as it would bring chaos to their people once again, thus the republic built a wall high and mighty ensuring no cookies go in or out.
The republic had just won a war against their colonizers during the dark flour war, and the cultural traditions were kept and never changed along with arranged marriages, it was a way to ensure the continuity of their way of life. The couple had never met before their wedding day and had no choice in the matter. Despite this, they were expected to work together and build a family, and their bond was strengthened by their shared struggle against the outside world. While this tradition may seem outdated to outsiders, it was a way of life for the people of this republic, and it was an essential part of their survival in a harsh and unforgiving environment.
