Summer. It's usually stretched ahead with possibility but the past year has been hard for Charlie, with her parents getting a divorce and her Dad moving away it seemed her entire world changed. Summer was some thing she was looking forward to. A chance to try to put relationships back on their feet. But when her Mum decides she need some space - to 'Take a step back from the situation, sweetie,' - and sends her to spend the summer with her Grandma, in a small beach town in the middle of nowhere, it's suddenly something she's dreading. Pulled into her own world, and not interested in coming out anytime soon, Charlie spends less and less time with people around her. When her Grandma convinces her to take a job at the local cafe, waitressing, she's forced to notice, Sam; a tall and gangly, self conscious, co-worker. Charlie find herself drawn out and away from the walls she's built around her life when Sam's around. But summer has to end, and Charlie doesn't know if she can let herself risk her heart for the boy she's falling for more and more everyday.
