Those words echoed in Maxine Masters' head as she escaped her childhood home. She left no note, no voicemail, not a sign of where she fled. With her cat, a backpack, and $5,000 in straight cash she crossed state lines in under an hour. 

She's a runaway. A girl with no home, and no one tethering her to anywhere. 

Sal Fisher is a runaway, too. He has a bad habit of running from his own thoughts and feelings. 

They're both running from something, but when you're not paying attention to where you're going, you'll collide with something sooner or later. That thing just so happened to be each other.
