Between The Union and private corporations monopolizing exorcism jobs and the ridiculously high mortality rates, it's a wonder that there were any freelance exorcists left. And yet seventeen year old exorcist Alexis Konstantine made it work. Sort of. If you didn't count the barren cupboards, the electric company threatening to shut off his power, the fact that he was living out of a work shed, and hadn't had a hot meal in weeks. He was making it work.
Things get even trickier when Union exorcists cut in on his job, costing him his pay and putting his less than legal operation on their radar. Between dodging The Union and trying to make rent, Alexis is determined to find answers about a recurring nightmare he's been having of a howling creature made of shadow in the forest outside of town. Especially after campers begin to go missing.

Till it was me they're hunting down, they locked me in a facility with horrific scientists. The other variants are my allies, the facility, our enemy. The leader of the facility is just another one of us, but he's standing on the opposite side, battling against us. Everyone can lie, but no one can deceive a psychic. Standing before him, you can't hide anything. Your thoughts, your schemes, the psychic hears it all. I, like every other variant locked in this place, dreamed of escaping. Continuous outrageous breakouts just to get recaptured? I need a disparate way, a more intriguing method to sneak myself out of here.
