In this AU Akaza and Doma's surface level relationship is the same. Akaza despises Doma for overtaking him in the rankings of the Uppermoons, Doma thinks they're best buddies and teases Akaza constantly.

But in this AU, Doma has 2 additional things about him, 1st he's F2M, and 2nd he has very deep running romantic feelings for Akaza. He's always had the mindset that Akaza would eventually catch feelings and make the first move to make the friendship Doma thought was there into a loving relationship. But when he discovers that Akaza in fact hates Doma with the intensity and fury of 1000 dying suns, he's devastated.

Now absolutely determined to MAKE Akaza fall head over heels for him, Doma tries everything he can to 1st make Akaza like him as a friend, then make Akaza swoon just by the sight of him.
