It was a regular old day. The sun shining down upon Mobius.

Sonic and Tails were together in Tails' workshop, chatting and eating chilidogs. When out of nowhere, Tails' computer started beeping.

It had detected something in Green Hill. But whatever it was it couldn't be identified. As the computer kept getting errors trying to identify it.

Sonic, believing this to be a chaos emerald, set out to go look for whatever it was. Determined to get there before Eggman as he might take a look as well soon.

Silver and Blaze and snoozing in the middle seats of the van next to Amy and Sticks. Knuckles and Rouge are sitting in the back. Rouge is teasing Knuckles and Knuckles is annoyed, looking out the window and trying to ignore her. Shadow-rin and Tails are sitting next to them. Tails is sitting next to the window and sleeping. Shadow-rin is sitting next to him and has her headphones in, drawing in her sketchbook. Their road trip was meant to be a fun and enjoyable time to just hang out. But on the first night, they stop to stay over in a hotel in a secluded area. The place was practically empty, and they were the only people there apart from the owner, an old man. The place was dark and old, but the room they booked was more better kept, minus the dust. At night, Shadow-rin and Tails hear something, making them look around the dark halls in the middle of the night to investigate. The owner is hiding something, but they don't know what. And they don't want to find out. What was meant to be a simple rescue mission turns out to be a week-long trek across an island as Sonic and friends race to fix their powers. Knuckles and Rouge address the elephant in the room. Sonic may like one of his friends more than he thinks he does. Eggman's just generally annoyed. Or, I'm writing Sonic the Hedgehog fanfic now, I guess. (Crossposted on ff.net and Ao3.)
