Torin has always felt out of place in his small village. Despite the familiarity of his surroundings, he cannot shake the feeling that he doesn't belong. You do not belong here." In a shock of realization, Torin understands the dragon's plea. No one else can hear it, no one else can understand the words-but Torin can. At that moment, everything changes. He chooses to defy the world he's always known, running away with the dragon, escaping the village that never understood him. As they journey together, seeking refuge in the wilds, they encounter other teens-four others-each of whom carries their own special gift. They, too, are misfits. One has the power to control the wind, another can manipulate shadows, a third can speak to animals, and the last can heal with a touch.
