In this first part of the Secrets. Lies. Murder. Betrayal. Guilt. Justice trilogy, Eric Walker is the typical ladies' man at Jimmy Carter High School in Ryder, a fictional town in Connecticut. In the summer of 2008, he's dating two girls at the same time: rich girl Olivia Lansing; and Kari-Ann Maloney, the best friend of the main protagonist and narrator, Erika Slatten. Erika is one of many students at J.C. High who absolutely cannot stand Eric, due to his philandering ways. Especially the fact when Walker ends up impregnating Olivia, roughly around the same time he is revealed to be a rapist toward another female student who also attended the end-of-summer beach party at the Lansings' residence. When word of his rape allegation comes out, Eric is suspended from school, causing him to be ostracized by his peers. At a Labor Day party, when everyone is having the night of their lives, Eric shows up briefly to the classmate's house to retrieve his sweater from a friend. He sees all his friends having fun without him and feels shunned to the point of making waves about being excluded. Apparently drunk, he is offered a ride home by someone at the party... But after he leaves the party, he disappears and is never seen or heard from again by his mother... Or anybody else. What happened to Eric Walker?
