Imagine if there was a world within our own, a world whose existence we aren't even aware of. Imagine if all of the evil creatures of the night you read about as a child - vampires, werewolves, fairies, even specters - were real. Imagine if you, an ordinary human, had the ability to change into an animal at will. Imagine if all of the legends you ever heard of, fictional or otherwise, were true.

For Laura Halifax, this is her worst nightmare. And it's coming true.

On her 18th birthday, she is plunged into a world by the name of Altair, where all of the supernatural beings humans swear off as 'just stories' reside and make a living. But she quickly discovers that she is unlike the others, and that her parents have been harboring dark secrets from her for the last eighteen years of her life. Just as she discovers her true identity, she realizes she is part of a bigger picture - one that has the potential to destroy all humankind.

Oh, and she's a shapeshifter. There's a hot guy, too.

. : Book One : . Melody is a member of one of the five tribes of animal shapeshifters who live beyond the human domain. These people have the ability to shapeshift into particular animals when they come of age in their tribe, attending something called the Ceremony. When given the chance to escape from her family, she jumps for it, spiraling into a world of mystery, danger, and unexpected surprises. But unknown to her, the spirits of the underworld have broken loose, and are tracking her every step. Why they want her, she has yet to know. But she will soon. Friends become enemies and families are reunited only to be broken apart. Whether she survives will be up to her companions as they race to right a world that has fallen drastically out of balance. * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * A haze darkened the edges of my vision and my knees buckled. This was too much, way too much. In half a day, my life had been turned upside down. Just as I was about to fall, the raven transformed into a boy and caught me. The bird had just turned into a boy. What the heck? What was an Avian doing on Lupine territory? * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * After much debate, I decided to discontinue this second book and series. I love the world and I built and the characters with all my heart but the writing is incredibly outdated and the plot progression is all over the place. I may reuse these characters in the future, but this series has come to an end. I'm sorry to the people who wished to see the story continue, but I hope you'll be able to join me on future fantastical journies once I have time to write more! * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * ~ * First Published: Dec. 20, 2018 Finished: Mar. 31, 2020 Finished Publishing: 5-23-2020
Ayn's Healing by AMHillmann
54 parts Complete Mature
Ayn is a witch with healing powers. Shapeshifters have killed her parents and the only animals she cannot speak with are wolves. When she graduates from the Teaching Clan and finds out that she has to cross the River and live in the Wolves' Mountains for one year, she is less than amused. Kari, first-born shapeshifter Alpha, almost lost his wolf after the death of his mate. He could rise again and become the pack leader if only he would complete his training ...and find another suitable Luna. When he realizes that his second chance is his mother's guest, a daydreaming stubborn witch from across the River, he is less than amused. The bond may be a strong force, but can a witch walk the Wolves' Way and face the dangers it is paved with? **** "I need to stop..." I sigh, catching her wrist before her fingers reach the back of my neck, and I untangle her arm from me. She lingers on the recliner but now there is a big gap between our bodies. The warmth she left on my skin is quickly dissipating in the spring night. "Fine." Ayn stands and searches my eyes. Her scowl has my wolf whimper in submission and makes me curse my self-imposed hard line. "I am going to need your hoodie," she orders, stretching her hand out to me. "What?" I exclaim, briefly shocked by both the tone and the content of her words. My hands however are already executing her command, unzipping my jacket. "The last time I was able to sleep, I was covered with your hoodie. Your scent is comforting." She states it plainly as if it would be an obvious and broadly known fact. Like the Earth being round. Like two being a prime number. #1 in Healer - December 2021 #7 in Lycan - December 2022 ~95 000 words Cover photo by Jr Korpa via Unsplash Cover photo by Marc-Olivier Jodoin via Unsplash hi
