It is the year 1609 in the Neqoria Kingdom, the kingdom is known for its rare gold diamonds, the marigold flower of eternal youth, and the different fairytale creatures living together in harmony. However, when the marigold flower of eternal youth is stolen, the serene Neqoria Kingdom is faced with chaos and war---believing that their neighboring kingdom of Hivaria Empire stole the flower. 

War breaks out and Kim Hyun-Jun, the oldest of the Kim family, and Kim Hyun-Ki, the second oldest and also the Commander-in-chief of the Royal Guard of the Palace went to fight in the war in Hivaria. As the war ensued, many men from both kingdoms had fallen, if not suffered severe life-altering diseases. The war between the kingdoms lasted from 1610-1735, the royal family of Hivaria Empire was overthrown, many of them are dead, except the King's step-daughter, Jeon Bo-Hee. Bo-Hee is filled with the desire for revenge, but upon discovering this his highness Hyunjun takes her hostage as his bride. 
Bohee is tortured 24/7 by the Prince, and one night, she succumbs to her injuries when Prince Hyunjun leaves her in the cold palace after ordering the palace guards to give her 89 strokes.

After her tragic death, outspoken, stubborn, and gentle author named Jang Yi-Jae enters the palace, Yijae was reading Bohee's story and next thing she knows she's in 1846 of the Neqoria Kingdom. 

Will Yijae avenge Bohee, succeeding in becoming queen and also giving Hyunjun a taste of his medicine? Or will she find her way back home in the present time 2026? Or will Yijae suffer the same fate as Jeon Bohee?
