Just days after the joker had killed Lois and all of Metropolis Lex Luthor had survived the nuclear blast he had discovered Lois who was carrying Clarks child, If Clark where to lose their child as well all of his humanity would be lost. So lex had a machines designed to contain clones which he could manufacture into keep other plat forms of life growing within it as well.
Clark never would of agreed but if there was a small chance that their child could be saved even a little.

Presenting Ci El aka Layla Kent the child that lived and was imprisoned into the watchtower all her life only finding comfort from the games her father brought to play with or the company of his comrades but never to step a foot outside the tower.
