Kyle Blank isn't thrilled when the circus comes to town, but it is a welcome change from the dark, gloomy town he lives in. At least, at first. He stays longer after discovering that a long-lost relative of his works there with the knife thrower and seeing his sister riding a strange-looking horse that seems less like an animal and more like a prop, but that isn't the strangest thing about the circus.

There's something sinister hidden behind the bright colors and cheerful music. The performers seem terrified of their own acts, but not as terrified as they are of the ringmaster. He runs the circus with an iron fist. Kyle can't help being terrified of him as well, especially when he tries to recruit him and his sister. And he always carries a strange staff in his hand, one that seems oddly similar to a shop in town. It's up to them to stop his reign once and for all.
