Johnny's reason is to prove himself as a good- no, great martial artist. To show critics who's the boss, so to speak. Or, that's what his reason was.
Now, as he stands in front of his opponent, nervously glancing down by instinct at the long drop to deadly spikes at the bottom of the pit, he can only think of one thing: Jonathan Carlton went into this tournament fighting for Johnny Cage, and he's damn sure that he'll go out fighting for Sonya Blade.
