It's been many years since monsters have been freed from Mt. Ebott and everyone has been welcomed into human society by most of the humans, and ever since then the world has gotten used to the monsters.

You, however, aren't a human nor a monster. You're a merfolk, an inhuman person with a human soul, like all the other merfolk in the world. Humans and monsters alike have no idea about your kind's existence; most of them think your kind, along with vampires and harpies, are extinct after the war. Ever since the monsters have been freed from Mt. Ebott and mostly accepted into society, most of the community of your kind have been thinking about making their existence known again...

Nearby your house is a city where Mettaton resides. Mettaton has gotten very famous over the past few years, and as much as he loves it, he wants to find his perfect match. However, being a celebrity, it's hard for him to date due to many reasons. He was close to giving up...until he met you.

Warnings: (I might add more later on) Slight swearing, slight mature themes, and there's a chance I'll add at least one smut scene, maybe more if I feel if it fits. Nothing that would be too important to the plot, so you can skip it if you're asexual

Featuring: Gender neutral Reader with barely any descriptions of appearance (it's a little important but you can change what kind of merfolk you are) and uses they/them pronouns (Reader is not specified as any gender so you can decide), also in 2nd person POV
