One night 17-year-old twins Mateo and Mackenzie Kyler get fed up with the abuse and neglect at the hands of their drug-addict mother and decided its time to leave it behind and find what they've always wanted - a home. With many failed attempts at running away from home that resulted with them being brought back, Mateo and Mackenzie devise a plan to runaway the night before their 18th birthday to ensure their legal freedom. The twins travel across the country from bus to subway to train all while trying to stay alive and to figure themselves out.
