It does not always start with so tame a feeling as innocent wonder. Often it is with a sort of immediacy and violence... a type of hunger that you must refuse.

So, it is for Lydo Von Laurence when he is sent to stay (for his own good?) with General Caym Bronwen. The man is cold, standoffish, and bitingly sarcastic. He neither welcomes nor wants Lydo in his home. All of which should make hating him very easy... except Lydo finds himself struggling with even that.
