They dialed a random number. It connected.

It never was easy to say the words, but Tyler had to say them anyway. He'd get over her, he'd move on. But on the day he allowed himself an ounce of vulnerability, his good friends, though drunk that they were at that moment, they decided to make a random call with his phone and prank whoever picked. No one ever said being university students meant to never ever be childish.

It worked on their first try.

It was never easy to say the words, but Erin swore to say them. He'd accept her, two years of trying to get the attention of "the guy at 3rd Street" was no easy feat. But now wasn't the right time, not when university was killing her with projects at the last month of the year. No distractions would be accepted...

Until she saw 30 voicemails from an unknown number.

Tyler and Erin have never met, didn't even know what the other looked like, but they grow close. Probably even closer than they thought they would. Talking on phone alone wouldn't work though, they had to meet at some point, the person who changed the entire course of their lives. But were they in the same city, the same country...

Or even in the same universe?

Her brows furrowed. "You look like you have something specific you wanna ask me." The tips of Liam's ears turned red at Emma's very accurate observation. "I, uh... I usually just bullshit my way through projects, so I have no idea what the hell I'm doing." The corners of Emma's lips formed a small smile. Liam arched his brow. "What are you smiling at?" Her smile widened. "Nothing." Ever since Emma started going to Silver Creek High, she's been bullied over her discolored eyes. It all started when a boy brought attention to her in biology class one day, laughing at her and calling her a "freak" while the rest of the class laughed along with him. She never looked at him or saw his face; she just ran out of the room crying. She was now an outcast labeled as a freak and she wanted nothing more than to just disappear. She felt she had no purpose in life. Until her sophomore year when she fell in love with Liam, the guy every girl wanted; the guy every dude wanted to be. He had stolen her heart and she now wanted nothing more than to be with him. Unfortunately, Liam seemed to want nothing to do with Emma. He seemed to be straight up avoiding her. They never interacted for 3 whole years. That is, until now in their senior year, when they get paired up for a school project. The two must put their differences aside and try to work as a team. But as they spend more time together, feelings grow deeper, and secrets start to rise to the surface. Warning: Contains mature language, sex, and topics of bullying, sexual assault/harassment, self-harm, and suicide

Will feelings be reciprocated? Or will he break her heart just like Nate did? ~*~ "That's the first time he's called me by my first name. He usually calls me Cutie. I don't think I've ever liked the sound of my name so much, until now. He made it sound better. He makes it better." ~Elena Hawkins "Do I make her nervous? I don't want that. I want her to be herself around me. Show me who she really is, not what everyone else sees. I wanna see the real Elena Hawkins. "You were worried about me, Specs?" He smirked. "No, Tyler. I hoped that someone cut up your corpse and fed it to paranas. Obviously I was, you idiot! I'm a doctor. Worrying about people is kind of programmed into my system. It's a curse if you ask me," I surprised myself a lot more than I thought was possible with my answer. And what did he do? Laugh! He fucking laughed! Not full on rolling- on- the- floor laughter but a laugh nonetheless. "This isn't funny, Tyler." "It kind of is. Almost a month ago, I would've sworn that you hated me. Be careful, Specs," he squinted down at me, "or you might actually sound as if you like me." I rolled my eyes. "Don't flatter yourself. I was concerned. Don't confuse that with affection. It's two very, very different things." *** When you think that all is not lost in the world. That not all men are pricks and that not all sushi is bad. When you think that there is a light, no matter how dim, at the end of the tunnel. When you think that life isn't the ruthless bitch you've always thought it was... It turns around and bites you in the ass. When you think that the past will always and forever remain where it should be... It comes at you from every direction. Like a violent tsunami destroying everything...and everyone in it's path. Can you change what happened? I wish. Can you stop what's going to happen? God! I really hope so.
