Beyond The Darkness

Sofia Russo was a normal person living in New York. She got up in the morning, called her family, went to work and came back home to her roommate, Lexi.
Except the fact that her roommate Lexi was a 300 year old vampire.
And the fact that her family were Damon and Stefan Salvatore. The infamous Salvatore vampires.
Oh and she was a witch.
But hey! She did work in a bar as a bartender so...
Hold on there's an explanation for all of it.
Sofia was the younger half sister of Zachery Salvatore.
Like a lot younger.
When Zach was 24 and his parents died, he wasn't prepared to take care of a 3 year old. He put her into foster care, never telling his uncles about her. After the incident with Zach's pregnant girlfriend, Gail, dying, Zach told Stefan he felt as if he was being punished for sending Sofia away.
Stefan calls Lexi and asks her to look for a Sofia Salvatore. She tells him there was no one by that name in the system.
Zach told them he had changed her last name to Russo to make her anonymous.
Fortunately that didn't stop Stefan and Lexi from finding her. And when they did, there she was. A tiny 7 year old bundle of fire with a sprinkle of witchy activity.
