Thorfinn didn't stow away on his father's ship, he stayed on Iceland, sulking, and he didn't watch his father die. Still, he is angry, and he wants to kill the man responsible, so in an attempt to help him and keep an eye on him, Helga asks Leif to take Thorfinn with him, and he agrees.
