'Fairy Crosses' are believed to have formed where fairies danced in little valleys between the mountains. On certain nights of the year, settlers believed they could find the fairies, watch their dance, and collect their tears...

Charlotte lost her husband two years ago. She moved from Atlanta to Helen, a small, sleepy town in northern Georgia to escape her pain. Struggling with grief, Charlotte often talks to her husband as if he is still there.

One day, Charlotte returns home to find fairy crosses in her yard. This becomes such a regular occurrence for her that she decides to take them to a local museum. There, the curator explains to Charlotte what they are and the scientific phenomenon that causes them, but also the legend.

Charlotte later finds a trail of fairy crosses on a path between trail trees. It leads her down a valley where a miracle happens one night.

Charlotte believes the miracle that she sees, but is it real?

Based on prompt 36. "Fairy tales are real," and there couldn't be anything worse.

This is a collaboration of @RowanCarver and CBMokedi. Small differences will occur throughout the story between this version and one on Rowan's account due to our independent editing.

Niccola is a demi-queen undercover in enemy territory. Her little sister went missing seven moons ago, but one lead remains: a picture of a woman's face, drawn by a diviner shortly after the disappearance. Tracking her down has led Niccola to Calis, the realm next door whose border with her own remains closed for a reason. There, the trail goes cold. Until, that is, Niccola runs into a man in the marketplace who bears a family resemblance to the woman she seeks. His name is Isaiah, crown prince of Calis, and he's investigating disappearances, too. They join forces, faking courtship to sneak Niccola into the palace and get Isaiah's wedding-minded mother off his back. It doesn't take long to suspect that a common threat might underpin both their realms' problems. And as Niccola begins to develop real feelings for Isaiah, she's faced with an impossible choice: reveal her secrets and risk breaking his trust, or leave him in order to chase down the woman who stole her sister... a woman whose forbidden magic comes with a cost that could bring both realms to ruin. ❖❖❖ Complete and fully edited. Conjure a demon to catch a killer? That's Appalachian witch Ellie's last remaining hope to solve a two year old cold case that haunts her nightmares. She's still grieving her late fiancé, but the few Boone residents that don't think she killed him herself have given up on finding the murderer. Kazerin, on the other hand, is not prepared for what awaits him when he answers Ellie's request. He's used to bargaining for lust or power, not closure, and he's a little nervous about what feelings stir up the longer he's around Ellie. Their feelings only entangle further the longer that Kaz stays in town, pretending to be Ellie's new fiancé as a cover for investigating the murder. Follow Ellie and Kaz in an alternate history where Others-- demons, vampires, angels, shifters, and many more beings-- roam the earth, magic is alive and burning bright, and blood runs deeper than just our ancestry. BLOOD BARGAIN is Book #1 in the Appalachian Magic companion book series. Each story can be read as a standalone, but some characters and locations recur. Delilah "Del" Cross went into the woods with the express purpose of never coming back out. However, death was interested in someone else that night. Del finds a murdered young woman, who soon rises from the dead as a zombie. Del is brought into a very special community living in happy isolation within the beautiful Whisper Valley. There creatures of myth and legend live together in harmony, following a strict set of rules that allow them to be who they are but also enjoy modern amenities like a steady Wifi connection and the latest smartphone. They all just want a normal life that's free from persecution by humans. For them, humans are instead seen as a commodity. Specifically they're known as the "Bodies" and they all have one year to either be sponsored or converted by one of the town's supernatural citizens. Del fills the vacancy left by the corpse in the woods, Calista Nightgrave. Calista should have been the next bride to a wealthy vampire, but instead she is a lowly zombie that's furious over the shift in her immortal afterlife. The Ghosts of Melbrew [1/12] by LillianRS

BOOK NUMBER 1 OF 12 IN THE MULTIMAGICAL SERIES BY LILLIAN R.S. ☆☆☆ Emeline Orman was sixteen when she and her parents moved across the country to the coastline of Washington state. A small town known as Melbrew sat comfortably in the middle of thick woods, so tiny and unknown that it doesn't show up on any maps, making it the perfect spot for malicious activity to go unnoticed. On her first day of school, she met some rather weird people, who all shared a strange similar interest. This little group had quite the reputation for their knowledge of the town's not-so-secret dark history... as well as all of the unusual things that have been reported to them. It all started with the rich Humphrey family tragedy back in the 1800s, where for years it has been speculated that the mother killed her husband and children. Being very eager to get to the bottom of all the town's mysteries, one thing leads to another as discovery after discovery begins to pile up, ranging from random holes in the ground, to suspicious buildings in the middle of the woods. Secret doors, tunnels, and books that talk about nonsense seem like they lead nowhere, with no connections! Though perhaps the most mysterious oddity of them all is the otherworldly gateway surrounded by old fences, tied back to the founding family. ☆☆☆ • CW: Strong language, murder, and gore • 34 Total Chapters! • Total Word Count: 142,450 • PLEASE NOTE: This book is part of a series! It is the first book of 12. • This book is not my final product! This is just my way of easily sharing it with family and friends! I plan to edit and get published someday. Feedback and thoughts are appreciated, positive or negative! I will go back and edit/change things. • For more information on the Multimagical Series, check my bio! ☆☆☆

56 parts Complete

In the final days of autumn, a young princess climbs her favourite tree clutching a folded star of paper to her aching heart. Contained within its crisp lines are recountings of her dreams and darings... and a plea that she might, at last, be welcomed home. With a kiss for luck, she tosses her star to the southbound winds, and stumbles her way to a crumbling cottage in the deep woods. Years pass and the constellations spin, her pleas have gone unanswered. The princess grows, and her uncertainties are buried beneath the gentle earth of spurned hopes. It is now, when she has almost forgotten how to wish on morning stars, that an invitation of smoke and dream light arrives, carried on horseback by soldiers of a different kingdom; the Dark Moon Ball might prove her salvation. She does not yet know that love is an exquisite, wretched thing and that wishes are fickle as wisp light. She does not yet know that paths of magic have their own sense of poetry, and walking them presses footprints into the deepest sands of self, remaining even as the stars and seasons turn. She does not yet know that home is where you keep your north star.
