The Sullys are on a constant run from the RDA, who have revived into their new avatar bodies and have one last chance to capture Jake Sully.
Before this, Jake Sully was living a comfortable life with his family of 7, consisting of himself (the father and protector), Neytiri (the mother and guardian), Neteyam (the eldest son and heir), Wairua (the second eldest and spirit), Lo'ak (the middle and pride), Kiri (the fourth eldest and wonder), and lastly, Tuktirey (the youngest and curious) -- of the Sullys.
After a big event that had traumatised the family and after a few rejections, they flew toward an island of entirely different Na'vi, the reef Na'vi was what they called themselves. Wairua being respectful and cautious around the new clan, aware of a certain boy's eyes that were stuck on her the entire introduction.

The sully family come to the Metkayina clan to seek a safe home for their family from the sky people. They must learn the ways of the reef people to fit in.
