Jaune is the boy who tried to honor the legacy of his family name.....So he asked to attend Beacon  Academy to broaden his horizons. He got his hands on doctored transcripts to hide his statis and made hai way into Beacon where, despite his best efforts.....he was ridiculed by many except his team and friends. 

He eventually was found out, and many didn't like what he did.....so the TRUE Leaders of Mistrals.....the 7 Clans and the Shogun-Damiyo, send their best to retrieve him and bring him home. 

Now, 3 years later, news reaches his ears of   devastating attacks on Beacon, Atlas, Vacuo, and the Kingdom of Menagerie, which also ushers in the end of the White Fang.....Mistral is now the last safe haven.....but it wasn't called the Unconquered Land for nothing.....
