Kahlani Ambers. 25 year old from Greenville, Alabama, population 7200. Daughter of Reverend John and Cynthia Ambers, she faithfully grew up in the church life, along with her twin older brothers, Jax and Jordan. Getting a scholarship to a local college to study business management and accounting, Kahlani has yet to experience life outside of Greenville.

That all is soon to change when her father falls gravely ill and passes away several months later surrounded by loved ones. Torn up by her fathers death and unable to sit through another Sunday service, Kahlani decides to look beyond her comfort soon. Putting an application in as a personal assistant to a upcoming firm in New York, the only thing on her mind: to get as far away from Greenville as possible.

After the passing of her mother at a young age, and her father slowly drifting away to console his sorrows at the local pubs, Kyra found solace with the Ambers. Riding along with them to Sunday service in the back of their beat up Ford Freestyle. Playing dolls with Kahlani in their younger years, to just resting on her lap during adolescence listening to her stories-whether they repeated or not-she enjoyed the excitement in her words. The way her sheepish smile would tug at her lips when she'd catch Kyra unconsciously staring at them.

This all changed one night when Kyra's father came home too drunk to mind her wishes nor her prayers. She left the following night without a trace, first bus to New York. To start anew. Far away from Greenville. From Him. Everyone assumed, with the help of her fathers lies, the devil got to her and she ran off.

Now, almost 10 years later, the ding of her laptop isn't what catches her attention-its the name. Ambers. Greenville. The cheeky smile she never realized how much she missed, stirs something deep inside of her.
