❝ The end of life begins when you
drain one from another ❞

Michaela Reid was raised in a household that would be considered anything but normal. From the time her fine motor skills developed, she was taught how to properly grip a dagger and a wooden stake. Her parents always told stories of scary monsters that would come to drain your life force if you left your window open at night time and didn't take the proper precautions. As a child, these stories were enough for her to string garlic around her bedframe and seal the entrances to her room.

As Michaela got older, she gradually began to think of her parents' warnings as silly bedtime stories and let go of the reins she had around precautions and safety rules.

Until one night, 11-year-old Michaela heard a noise in the kitchen and peeked around the corner of her parent's home only to find their blood decorating the floral print on their walls and a dark figure wiping the crimson red from his lips.

As she was carried away in the arms of her older sister, fleeing into the night, Michaela vowed to make sure that would be the last family home to be painted red ever again.

Cain's coven thinks he died when he was starved, defanged, and exiled, but little do they know he has a thirst for vengeance- even if that requires teaming up with a hotheaded monster hunter to help him do it. As long as she doesn't find out his true nature, he should be fine. Right? When River gets a tip about a vampire coven operating in Manhattan, she's determined to set her hunter's Guild on the trail. But when she's met with doubt, her only option is to team up with the sketchy Brooklyn boy who put her on the scent. [a vampire x hunter action romance] Content warning: Graphic depictions of violence, sexuality, and recollections of emotional abuse. A muddy antihero with a messy past, including referenced sexual abuse and assault. And blood. Lots of blood. [Book 1, Monsters of New York]
