She closed her eyes, hoping that when she opened them again, the double red lines on the stick would disappear, that her eyes were just playing a trick on her. But when she opened her eyes again, those two dreadful red lines were still there. Intact.

She averted her gaze from the stick in her hand to the other fours scattered on the bathroom floor. They were all showing her those double red lines as if glaring at her.
