Gaisal, a mountainous continent brimming with life, is disappearing. The waves that lap at its shores are swallowing it up, stealing away land that the dragons living on it have long called home. Tribes are plunging headfirst into war over what precious dry earth remains; the weakest kingdom bares its teeth at the peaceful mangroves, blood flows freely into the rising seas, and atop it all, a Queen holds tight to her chest a secret that could stop it all. But amidst the chaos, four dragons turn their heads from the stemming violence and search for an escape.

Dawn was one of the few cats to have griffin ancestors instead of your average lion or tiger. Because of this, she was born with a great power: beautiful black wings. But her parents didn't think she was special, so the moment she was old enough to eat real food, they gave her away to an old loner named Patches. But when Patches is ill, Dawn takes the tom to WindClan in hopes of healing him. In the end, she realizes that her wings may prove that she was the one to save them all.
