It is this time of the year again - Esther's husband is leaving home for work and is to be gone for the months to come. Being the docile wife she is, she always calmly stands the half-truths he feeds her; this time, however, a rash decision will turn her life upside-down. Esther winds up on a ship filled with nasty pirates. Her faith in her husband is put to the test, but he and his crew of ruthless killers turn out to be the smallest of her problems. She discovers that her now-dead mother hasn't always been the good, quiet wife she knew her to be. It turns out that before she settled with her husband in a small seaside town and gave birth to Esther, she had made herself an enemy that puts most of underwater life at risk of quickly impending extinction. Now, as she sails the seven seas, Esther has to find it in her to handle the creature that makes merfolk tremble with fear, all the while trying to find her way in the male-dominated world of piracy and to decide how she feels about the love of her life that has deceived her for so long. Moreover, as if it all isn't enough, it seems that she, with her allegedly royal blood, is the only one capable of either stopping things from escalating into a catastrophe of a global scale... or bringing it closer.
