He chased after her, breathless-yet smiling-his footsteps splashing against the rain-soaked ground.

She slowed, just enough.

Just enough for him to catch her.

His arms slipped around her waist, pulling her back against his chest. Warm. Steady. Certain.

Dianne didn't resist.

No protest. No hesitation.

"You're running from me, love?" he murmured, his voice low, brushing against her ear. His breath was warm despite the cold rain, his words grazing her skin like a quiet promise.

Rain traced slow paths down her neck, her pale emerald dress clinging softly to her frame.

"What do you think?" she whispered, turning in his hold until she faced him-so close their breaths tangled.

Anthony's gaze dropped to her lips, then lifted back to her eyes, something unreadable flickering there.

"You wanted me to catch you."

It wasn't a question.

Dianne's heartbeat stuttered, but her lips curved anyway. "And if I did?"

His hold tightened-just slightly.

"Then don't run too far next time," he said, softer now. "I might not let you go at all."

For a moment, the world disappeared.

Only the rain remained.
Only him.
Only her.

And the space between them-barely there, yet filled with everything they weren't saying.
