It's been a couple of months since Jennie's mother married Lisa's father, making them stepsisters.
Since the house is not that big, the girls are forced to share Lisa's double bed.

Sometimes Jennie would wake up in the middle of the night, and she found that Lisa had scooted closer to the middle of the bed and was lying next to her. She would close her eyes to go back to sleep, sometimes leaning back just a little to press her back gently into Lisa's side.
