My name is Calista Cain and I am amazing. My first name means beautiful. My last name means death. I spent my childhood with my father, Hades Cain, in the underworld. That is right bitches. My dad is the god of the underworld. The devil himself. Father of demons with his ex wife Lilith. She is actually a bad ass and my favorite auntie. My mother died in childbirth due to my powers. Most demigods do not receive their powers until they are awoken at 18 but for some reason I was born different. My mother was the result of two Demi gods but even that wasn't enough to save her from me.

Now that I am 18 I am forced to leave the underworld and attend the academy. Ascension Academy is where everyone with even a drop of powerful blood must go to be tested. Sometimes people are duds but if you have even a hint of power you must stay and risk your life trying to complete the four years. Based on your power level possibly eight.

Thankfully, my best friend is already there and waiting for me. His name is Cassian and he is the grandson of Hectate. He has been gone two years but it feels longer. What will my time at the academy reveal? Stay tuned for the shitshow.

Persephone Incarnate [Wattpad Prize 2014] | ✔️ by wishuponajinni
36 parts Complete
[COMPLETED - ONLY MINORLY EDITED] ******************************************************** Greek myths - true or false? They should be false, and to 16-year-old Sophie Claire, it's never crossed her mind that they aren't. Until one day in History class when her teacher spends a day on Greek mythology and something strange starts happening - her friends and classmates begin to tell myths about certain Greek deities with frightening precision. And for some reason, she's began to feel a certain affinity for Persephone, the Greek maiden who was kidnapped by Hades, the Lord of the Underworld, and forced into a marriage with him. This isn't some coincidence or freak dream, she later finds out from a host of strange individuals who claim they're from Olympus, the grandoise home of the gods themselves. She is actually a modern reincarnation of the goddess Persephone, and she's not the only one. A few of her classmates also happen to represent the gods and goddesses from popular Greek myths, and the fact that all of them are present means that something monumental is about to happen. Something like being the girl to change Persephone's future, to break the cycle of kidnapper and victim - all by passing a trial. It won't be simple, she knows, and she's not quite that eager to take it up, but from the moment she found out that she was Persephone, there was no way to back out. She should've known, however, that dealing with all powerful, immortal deities wasn't going to be easy. They've got a few secrets and personality flaws up their sleeves, and they could be deadly. More than deadly - murderous.

She had pushed herself past her breaking point, and still continued on as if nothing was wrong. The demigod knew if she allowed herself time to take even a moment, her soul would physically crack in two. Now was not the time for weakness, if anything, she had to be stronger. She knew the other girls would mumble about her, but Icaria wouldn't listen to them. She refused to watch someone she loved fall at the hands of Thanatos again. If need be, she would offer herself to him in place. Yet, there was someone who noticed the young girl breaking apart. She could see the bags grow darker, and watched as Icaria began to eat less and less. It was the same someone who had saved Icaria all those years ago. And the goddess refused to watch that someone suffer any longer. The goddess, Artemis, stepped out of her tent in the early morning light. All of her girls were getting rest, taking the opportunity to relax with the very few days of peace they had left. All except one. In the distance, the goddess could hear the distinct sound of metal striking against wood. She took quiet steps, and watched Icaria Kane from a distance. The girl breathed heavily, her body slumped from exhaustion. "Icaria?" Artemis asked, stepping through the early morning fog. "Why do you cry?" The demigods body tightened, urging the tears to stop falling. She turned her body away from her goddess, clutching Hearth in her hands.
