Guards and sentries pour into the ballroom from the double-doors.
The ones who were too stunned to act earlier seem to have gotten out of shock and unsheath their swords as they slowly and carefully approach me.

''Ohh, look who wants to have fun! They brought us toys!'' Helera says with sarcasm.

''Uhm, Lera? Your toys seem to count more than 3 dozens, you know.'' I say as they unsheath their weapons and start to encircle me. I had forgotten I just threatened an Alpha.

''I know kiddo!'' She sighs. ''Have a better plan?''

"We could challenge the Alpha Eddie and win the pack. But then we'd have to be a Luna. So much for freedom."

Sentries rise their swords.

A growl shudders the high walls and windows of the ballroom. To my surprise it isn't mine. The guards freeze on their spot, and stare at the source of the constant growl.

''Mate!'' Helera's voice is shockingly soft.

''Soulmate...'' I mentally whisper in his direction. The cease of his growl is the only sign that he heard me.

''Do Not touch her!'' He roars. ''Don't you dare hurt her! She is MINE!'' He roars even louder.

The walls shake and everyone in the ballroom drops down to their knees.
