What if Sonic Forces went differently?
Gadget, the rookie has fit in well with everyone in the resistance
He's best friends with Tails and Sonic and the mini version of the blue hero
Knuckles respects him as a good fighter and the commander's girlfriend, Rouge, is like a mother figure to him
Amy Rose, Blaze, and Silver all treat him great and he gets along well with the Chaotix (well maybe not Vector)
He's fond of Shadow, seeing as he's Sonic's boyfriend
And everyone knows him as hero in the war at the moment
But what if he finds himself chasing after another person whose caught his attention.
Infinite.

Infinite has never connected with anyone except his team.
But they're gone so there was no one else he wanted to be around
But a certain rookie wolf catches his eye, and when the doctor reveals that a Phantom Ruby prototype is missing, Infinite makes it his goal to find it
But the hunt for the ruby only leads him into following the wolf more

The two of them chase after each other, wanting to know more of their pasts and identities
Because the thing connecting them is the weapon that started this war
