Valentina Gonzalez, is her name. She's not just an ordinary girl, she's witty and has the heart of a mother. Her family came all the way from Medellín to Miami, with one dream, a better life. Valentina has a little sister, Carolina. They live in a small apartment with their mom and abuela. Their dad left them a long time ago, that's why she doesn't believe in love. Her mother is empty of love, she tries her best to be a good parent but is too sad. Valentina is like a mother to her little sister and this shows in every room she steps in. 

As she says "But I kneel and bow, because I only have one job and that is to be a good mom to everyone I know".  

Being a top student isn't enough, when you can't pay the bills. She works and works to be able to support her little sister and doesn't even get mad when she comes home to a untidy apartment. But this is not all there is to this short story. It's Valentine's day, and maybe what wasn't supposed to happen, happens. Maybe she falls in love with him, but then again she can choose him and him and him and him. Is Dario just her amigo? Sucks when he's the hottest guy in school, or sorry uni.
