Wei Wuxian suffers from Congenital insensitivity (unable to feel physical pain). After their first meeting, Wangji begins to feel pain but it wasn't his and he wonders why. He eventually comes to find out that it was Wei Ying's pain. 

What will he do when he realizes that Wuxian couldn't actually feel his own pain? 

Title inspired by Arrows To Athen's song Dust and Gold, which explores the human condition of feeling incomplete and disconnected, questioning the meaning of one's existence and searching for something beyond material possessions to give life deeper significance.
