The vampire Caleb has not been near his hometown, Fenbrooke, in over a century, with unpleasant memories and hunters leading him astray. That is until a close call brings him to Adelyn, his spritely witch friend who's determined to venture. Armed with spite and a desire to move on from dark pasts and overbearing covens, Caleb and Adelyn hatch a plan to sneak into Fenbrooke under the guise of attending university. Their attempt at exposure therapy ends in disaster when Markus, a werewolf, follows his nose to their dorm room and the ghosts of Caleb's past come back to haunt him- not to mention their human roommate Chloe figuring out the dangerous truth. It's not long before Caleb realises that returning home might not have been the best decision. Wherever he goes, chaos descends.

As if the witch's plan cannot get any worse, dark memories aren't the only shadows pressing in on Caleb. Hunters have caught his trail and lie in wait, armed with a deadly talisman and with one goal in mind: avenge their fallen and rid Fenbrooke of its supernatural residents in the process, no matter the cost.
