One day, Thomas starts seeing Edward as his father after talking to Annie and Clarabel but worries that Edward won't accept him as his son. However, unknown to Thomas, Edward has always seen Thomas as his son but has kept it as a secret from him till one day at the shunting yard, Edward gets into a terrible accident after saving Thomas and gets badly damaged and has to be sent away to get fixed by specialists.
