There happened to be a lot of planets that the Galra destroyed, and Lance's home was one of them.
He noticed, his parents never spoke of their home, they only carried on traditions in secret. Lance hated it, pretending to be a human boy every day of his miserable life.
Every day walking to school and being a normal human boy with tan skin and bright normal blue eyes.
But it made going home every day even better. His family owned a small house for humans, but the ocean was only a short walk away.
Every day he'd walk with his sister, who like his father is a human,to the ocean.
Every day his eyes shone brighter, and as he dove in the water his blue scales shone, and his legs morphed together.
His ears grew longer, his eyes sharper, his lungs turned to gills.
He'd laugh and play.
But that's all gone, because now he's in space. Now he's alone, no ocean in sight.

It really was remarkable how his eyes changed to resemble those of pure Galra. It would have scared him if his introduction to the guy hadn't been a gushing retelling of a 'bonding moment' between him and his brother. Alec merely rolled his eyes. "Haven't you been listening. I.
