Once, a powerful dragon that protected the land, now a measly rat siphoned of her power. Rosslyn, the Guardian, must seek out a hero to help her retrieve the power she once had. With the entirety of the land she once ruled against her, she must fight the most powerful of monsters for her power, even if she's not really the one fighting for it and she's just depending on the help of a hunter, a cheesemaker, and a mysterious third hero. Will this group of mismatched, under qualified, incredibly scared individuals rise to the occasion to overtake the new ruler of the land? 
I personally don't know. But you can find out! In this wacky, hilarious, even somewhat self-aware adventure, anything is possible!
From marrying cheese doodles to kidnapping innocent people, The Guardian is a guaranteed must-read for anyone with a bizarre love for rats and a rational love for the world of the unknown and all that might come from it. He begins to settle into the ship, finding friendship and freedom. But when his sister is kidnapped by Redcoats for her blessing, he must take action and save her along with his new friends. But Phoenix will soon find out there is more to himself, the captain, and this story, than it seems. - - - This is the first draft of my novel, which took about a year to write. The quest is to find a powerful gem in the Deep Forest, and then to use what powers it bestowed on them to delve into the Mountain Barrier. There, they will have to find the Light to dispel the growing Darkness within. Though this qest is honorable and righteous, the dangers that await them are exponentially worse than they could ever imagine. Whether they can save the world depends on whether they can survive themselves. Mature rating for blood, gore and depictions of violence. TW: mentions of drunkards and beer, mention of physical abuses, a description of trypophobia, claustrophobia, and other phobias, and descriptions of nasty cryptids. There is no depictions or allusions of sex, no f-bombs, or drug abuse. This story was started when I was in seventh grade. I finished the original when I was a senior in high school. Displeased with the finished product, I began to rewrite it here, starting June 2015, then again in 2020. I am quite satisfied with the result, and am sure this will be the final edition. This isn't the first book of the series, but there's no spoilers for 'The World is Larger than it Seems', so you can start on this one. The story is far from finished, however, and I hope to eventually finish the series.
