"What is this?" Rose said, staring at a reflection of her own face, only more aged and weathered.

"Now listen to me carefully. The Earth's fate hangs in the balance." Her future self said, tone grim. "There wasn't anyone else I'd trust my Luyten V with. Use it to fight, defend the world. Or else, everyone is doomed!"

That dire message thrusts Rosemary Brahe into a desperate battle against the Altair, a parasitic monstrosity from the outer reaches of reality. In the far-flung future, they all but destroyed the earth and the rest of humanity. But her future self offers a second chance, an opportunity to make things right. Only Rose and her Luyten V stand any chance to break the chains of this bleak fate. Fight Rose! Fight Luyten V! Gain victory for all our sakes!

***Completed*** If you knew your world would soon be torched to carbon, would you fight to save it? ...Or light a match of your own? Violina, a girl polarized by love and loathing, finds herself thrown into a post-apocalyptic world with mankind on the brink of extinction. Discovering the means to travel back in time, she teams up with the ever-optimistic, pun-loving Lux and sets out to prevent the apocalypse from ever happening in the first place. But as her crusade advances, she becomes increasingly disturbed by humanity's apparent *lack* of humanity and comes to a frightening realization: To build a new world, she must first tear the old one down. Inevitable Ascension-The twisted jigsaw puzzle of a story with equal parts rapid-fire action, humor and charm. It's got a host of twists that will literally make your brain explode! Actually not literally, you know, because otherwise that would be really gross. Who is V.K. McAllister? We're a husband/wife duo (Andrew and Sasha McAllister) with a unique approach to writing. We work simultaneously and in secret before combining what we come up with, resulting in dramatic and unexpected twists that surprise even us! Crazy? Yes, yes it is, but it's surprisingly fun and effective. :) We pretty much live for the Inevitable Ascension series and did just about everything ourselves-the writing, the editing, the publishing, the art (well, Andrew did the art, but Sasha provided invaluable consulting when it came to eyebrows), the audio book, the trailer-everything. We're basically a one-man band, except with two people... and no music... so perhaps not the best metaphor, but we're confident you get what we mean. Wrangling teenage emotions is hard enough on good days, but what if on bad days they could manifest as giant flesh and blood monsters? Pacific Rim meets Friday Night Lights as knee-jerk rebel Sage Sawyer is forced to join her high school "tourneytub" team, the Jupiter Jackalopes. Tourneytub is the muddy opera where "humors," these emotion-fueled monsters, are pacified by jockeys in "tubs," towering robots. (Basically graceful cathedrals wrapped up in sucker punches.) Sage's new teammates are all oddballs. Genesis O'Toole, "Princess Chastity Belt" herself, is a devout Christian. When Sage joins the team though, Genesis wrestles with intense feelings for her. Talia Amphigore, star Jackalope, gets badly injured and benched. She's determined to reclaim her throne, but what if she can't? Who is she without tourneytub? Artie Amphigore, the disabled "Tub Whisperer," may be a brilliant engineer, but he struggles with crippling (haha) self-doubt. When the Jackalopes need him most, will he rise above his doubt? Meanwhile, following Talia's downfall, Peter Donkersmit suddenly finds himself responsible for the manifestation of the team's monsters, birthed from his own emotions. Easier said than done, particularly once Peter begins questioning his identity. Cover Photo courtesy of Andriyko Podilnyk on Unsplash: https://unsplash.com/@yirage. Edited. •••••••••••••••• He took a step closer to her, and she took one away from him. "When two people make love, it is sensual, two hearts bonding, and caring for one another. It's slow and gentle and undemanding. It's just you and the person you love, and nothing else in the world matters." She didn't know when he'd gotten so close to her, but her eyes burned as she read the slight expression that flashed across his own eyes... sorrow, as if perhaps remembering something, or someone from his past. She didn't know why it made her chest hurt, he was only a brute after all... •••••••••••••••• Set against the enchanting backdrop of mid-18th century England, "The Cadre of Embers" unfolds the extraordinary journey of Althea Lezant, a young and unmarried woman disillusioned by societal constraints on women.
