From the POV of Nico Di Angelo, after coming out to Jason Grace they become best friends. They keep in touch from afar and while helping Jason with a breakup Nico takes an interest in Will Solace. Lost in love Nico sends an iris message to Jason after a week of no contact, only to find an image of a casket. A casket that holds his best friend. Jason is the only person to truly gain his trust after his sister's death. Why should anyone else have it? Will tries to help only to get pushed away, Can Solangelo survive? Can Piper survive Nico's need for revenge?
Did Nico love Jason more than just a friend? Should he trust Will after all it's Will's father who got Jason killed.
Nothing makes sense but throwing your mind through hell won't get Jason back... Or will it?
Will wants to help even if it means giving up Nico's love, not like he ever had it to begin with.

Nico Di Angelo's school is taking the whole junior year on a trip to Greece. Following the no gender mingling school policy, Nico groups with his best buds Percy Jackson and Jason Grace. All is well and good before Will Solace joins their bubble. Nico gets a strange, tingly, ticklish feeling in his stomach when he's around Will. It doesn't help when they have to pair off to explore the Parthenon and Percy and Jason take off, leaving Nico alone with Will. It also doesn't help when the two boys decide to share a bed at the hotels. His death triggers a lot of things for him, and shines light on a lot of his unresolved trauma. And what about the mysterious dreams that Nico keeps having of his mom? And who really is this little girl that knows nothing about her past? In this sequel to Out of the Shadows, Nico sees familiar faces and revisits past places, but at least this time he has Will along for the ride.
