Before, it was just fine. But now, after the UNSC abandoned Emerald Cove to the Covenant, Spartans have learned about what ONI is really doing to the human race. Sure, they might be saving their lives, but taking more in the process. The original Spartans who lived through augmentation went AWOL and left the UNSC and ONI.
