Bramble stood outside the den, snarling at whoever tried to come close. Cloudy was curled up inside the den, crying out as pain spasmed her stomach. Finally night came, bringing up the huge moon that glowed silver. Bramble slid into the den and sank down beside Cloudy, ears laid flat nervously. "The moon is never silver!" Bramble muttered. "No matter. It's beautiful," Cloudy murmured.
Suddenly more pain wracked her body.
"They're coming!" Cloudy howled. "My pups are coming!"
