Grievously, her mother died from cancer when Hazel had just recently turned 9 years old, this made Hazel realise how hard she would have to work to make her proud. After her death she began to become distant from her father because she didn't know how to talk to him due to his bipolar, her mother would usually help her to understand why he acted the way he did and eventually she understood but she still didn't quite know how to communicate, due to this she felt overly guilty and really wanted to fix their relationship but she has been so busy recently as her GCSE exams coming up.
